Advancing the Discipline: New Initiatives, New Frontiers for Archives

THE NEW EDITORIAL Board of Archives of Psychiatric Nursing had a lively first meeting in January 2006. Among the developments was the approval of new columns, the first of which is being launched in this issue. Editorial Board members have agreed to edit the columns. Kathleen Delaney will edit a column on clinical issues; Mary Ann Boyd will edit a column on issues in psychopharmacology. May Wykle will edit a column on geriatric mental health; Ann Whall will edit a column on international issues in psychiatric mental health nursing. Faye Gary will edit a column on health policy issues. Each of these columns may include content related to psychiatric nursing practice or policy development. In addition to these professional-practice-oriented columns, Mary Jane Smith and Patricia Liehr will coedit a research briefs column. For this research briefs column, we invite reports of pilot studies and abstracts of research in process. This will provide an opportunity for new scientists in psychiatric nursing, as well as graduate students, to share their initial work and to invite feedback from readers to shape future research. These abstracts will be peer reviewed prior to their acceptance for publication.
